What got you into the business in the first place?

My degree is in Journalism and I love to write. I discovered with video, I could combine solid writing with sound and pictures – and really move people and tell a story with results. When a project is done, my greatest satisfaction is to watch an audience watch my video…and cry or laugh or nod their heads. It’s better than the paycheck.

What was your most embarrassing moment in this business?

I was anchoring a TV newscast and literally lost my voice in the middle of it. I got a sharp pain in my throat and my voice was gone. Barely a rasp. The director cut to a graphic and I grabbed some chloroseptic spray that was under the desk and soaked my throat. I whispered through the rest of the news (which seemed to go on forever).

What attracted you to Adstrategies?

I really look up to Greg Bojko. I mean, really. He’s like 6′ 5” or something.

What driving career goals do you still have?

I want to win an Emmy.

Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?

Well, since I am answering these questions in a Starbucks – I will say a grande Skinny Caramel Macchiatto, extra hot.

What frustrates you the most?

People who say (or think) “we’ve never done it that way before” so it won’t work. I like change. I like looking at things from a slightly different angle, and say “what if?”. Normal is just a setting on your washing machine…not a way to live your life.
